Who is Matt Epperly
Why I Do What I Do — And What Might Align in Our Journeys

My goal is to become a licensed architect working in the adaptive reuse field, at the intersection of sustainable design and creative problem solving. As I start my career, I hope to learn from and contribute to an interdisciplinary team of design professionals and help to realize a less wasteful, more resilient, and more beautiful built environment that does good for its inhabitants.
Who is Matt Epperly?
Why I Do What I Do — And What Might Align in Our Journeys

My dream is to contribute to a team like Denver Architecture Firm—where creativity, collaboration, and community impact are at the forefront. While that’s a guiding vision, I’m open to working with firms and projects that align with my passion for design, allowing me to grow, contribute meaningfully, and refine my craft alongside talented teams.
“Matt took my design course entitled "Common Ground: Denver Low-Rise" in the fall of 2023. It was the second core graduate studio that investigated new modes of "Missing Middle Housing" to promote collective living in Denver's Capitol Hill neighborhood. Since the beginning of the semester, Matt's intellectual drive, inclusive attitude, outstanding creative work, and fantastic problem-solving skills immediately impressed me. He consistently demonstrated his incredible talent and a growing passion for architecture. His excellent work ethic, tireless effort to improve his design skills, meticulous attention to the development of concepts and details, were all truly commendable, making him one of the recipients of the Studio 2 Design Award, as well as being selected to work on the Governor's Mansion project in collaboration with faculty and students at the Department of Landscape Architecture at CU Denver. ” — Leyuan Li

What do people have to say about my work?
Li, assistant professor at CU Denver, has taught at Rice and UH, lectured at top schools like Cornell and RISD, and won the 2024-2025 AIA/ACSA Housing Design and Education Award.
